Truck Driver Salary

Most people who are interested in truck driving jobs are of course curious to know what they can expect in terms of a truck driver salary, especially in the first year, but also after two or three or even 5 years, when most companies offer the top rate to their most experienced drivers. That rate typically varies between 45 cents and 55 cents per mile.

Most legitimate trucking companies will start their drivers out on a truck driver training salary, just in case you quit before making it through training. This will usually be $300-500 per week while you are on the road with your driver trainer, but this only lasts for 4-8 weeks, until you pass your training and and are ready to go out on your own.

Once you’re on your own, your starting truck driving salary is likely to start at $0.25 per mile to around a maximum of $0.35 per mile, which is rare for new drivers without experience. $0.25 is fairly standard, and you won’t have too much trouble finding a job that will pay you that, once you’re licensed, graduated from truck driving school, and have completed training with the trucking company.
